We are currently seeking applications for a GIS Analyst. Reporting to the data analytics lead, the GIS analyst will be a well-rounded GIS professional, responsible for a wide variety of GIS services. This individual will create, manipulate, and manage spatial data in the GIS system and produce a variety of outputs including maps and data visualizations that will inform key project outcomes.  

Key Responsibilities
  • Work as part of a collaborative team to support urban, regional and environmental planning and design projects.  
  • Utilize GIS tools and techniques for site selection, environmental impact assessments, land use planning, and other spatial analyses.  
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including planners, environmental scientists, and engineers to integrate GIS into project workflows. 
  • Perform advanced spatial analyses to support planning and environmental projects. 
  • Geostatistical analysis using ESRI/Python/R. 
  • Create high-quality maps, visualizations, and reports to communicate spatial data insights.  
  • Provide GIS and mapping to support for public consultations, stakeholder meetings, and presentations. 
  • Manage, manipulate, and analyze large datasets from various sources, including satellite imagery, surveys, and public databases.  
  • Develop and maintain geodatabases, ensuring data accuracy, consistency, and accessibility. 
  • Prepare technical documentation, methodologies, and workflows for GIS-related tasks. 
 
Education
  • Post-secondary degree in Geographic Information Systems or equivalent education/experience. 
  • A master’s degree is an asset but not required. 
 
Experience 
  • Minimum 2 years of professional experience in GIS analysis, preferably in planning or environmental projects. 
  • Proven experience in managing and analyzing geospatial datasets for decision-making purposes. 
  • A background in planning, urban design, or environmental science in a strong asset. 
 
Technical Skills: 
  • Proficiency in GIS software such as ArcGIS Pro, QGIS, or other relevant tools. 
  • Knowledge of spatial analysis techniques, cartography principles, and geodatabase management. 
  • Experience with remote sensing, LiDAR data, or spatial programming (e.g., Python, R) is an asset. 
  • Familiarity with planning concepts, environmental regulations, or sustainability initiatives is highly desirable. 
  • Knowledge of graphic software such as Adobe Creative Suite and/or CAD software such as Rhinoceros 3D is an asset. 

Soft Skills:
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail. 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to explain technical information to non-GIS specialists. 
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and manage multiple project priorities simultaneously.
